Hey! Folks.
Welcome to Gert Chappell’s Blog.
In this post I’m going to touch on some stuff that I think is very improtant when your new to internet marketing or any other business or interest for that matter. It might seem a little off the Internet Marketing beaten track but if you think about it it isn’t.
It’s about the Dream Stealer that seems to lurk just out of sight of every one of us.
I was going to start with “Have you ever walked away from something that you were once passionate about because it was too HARD or you got pressure from someone else, just to moan and groan about what might have been?”. But I decided that everyone must have done that at some point in their lives.
So instead I’m going to ask you to do yourselves a little favor and take a moment to think about when in your life you gave up on something that mattered to you. Be it when you were very young or in your teens or even recently.
Just think of a time when you changed your mind on something that you had worked hard at only to give it up.
Now try to think why you gave it up.
Was it because you lost interest in the project or what ever it was, or was it because someone put ideas into your head about its worth, or lack of?
Lets face it we all change our minds on the things that once mattered to us because they suddenly become unimprotant and we are all guilty of letting others talk us out of something that “they” don’t consider valuable enough to persue.
When I was a teenager I wanted to join the RAF. I was surrounded by forces men. My 4 brothers were either in the RAF, the Army or the Navy and so it was no wonder that I wanted to do the same.
When I anounced my plan to my youngest brother he went ballistic, he insisted that it wasn’t any kind of life for a girl!!! I won’t tell you some of the things he said or called me. And after some pressure from him I gave up on the idea and blamed him for it.
Over the years I’ve mentioned it to others and they said that I shouldn’t have allowed him to “Steal my Dream” and I was happy to agree with them.
Well guess what?
It’s only recently that I have discovered that my brother didn’t steal my dream…I did!!
I backed away from my dream because someone gave me some very negative comments and pressure and I allowed myself to blame him because it was easier to do that, after all everyone was on my side so I milked the sympathy.
But now I realise that I stole my own dream, I allowed it to happen.
It’s the same for almost everything in life, we want people to encourage us and support us and there is nothing wrong with that but what is wrong is that we listen too much. We take too much to heart and if we feel that close ones don’t like what we’re doing so we change it.
WE CHANGE IT !!!
We are our own dream stealers, no one else, US!!
So if your getting negativity from family and friends about your internet business or any other business or activity just let the negativity flow over you. Don’t take too much of it to heart. Obviously we can all buckle under pressure but just try to keep your ultimate goal at the forefront of your mind.
If you want something strongly enough then don’t be a victim of yourself. Don’t be the Dream Stealer.
If you are about to give up either because of the comments of others or because it just doesn’t seem to be going to plan then can I say this…
It was something that you passionately wanted to do before things went “tit’s up” and maybe all you need is to re-evaluate your plan and take a break from it for a little while.
DON’T GIVE UP!!
We all feel like things are just not worth the effort so far, but if we all gave up our dreams this would be a very sad old world. Keep going and you will get there.
You must take into consideration your family commitments and you work but finding time to do something that you want to do or love to do should be a pleasure not a chore, it’s when things don’t go according to plan that we start to doubt ourselves. Well everything has its hiccups, we just need to stay focused and dedicated to our dreams.
The best way to stay on track is to get yourself a mentor, that way you are answerable to someone and will more than likely get back on track and stay there in no time at all.
Don’t be your own DREAM STEALER!! And please stop blaming everyone else.
Good luck to you in what ever you do in life, it just takes determination, dedication and commitment. Oh! and a strong will to succeed.
All the best to you and yours.
Gert.
